Replace A Sorento Key Battery With The Right Cell

The 2021 Sorento owner’s manual specifies a CR2032 battery for its documented remote/smart-key procedure. Remove the mechanical key, open the cover, replace the cell in the correct orientation and reassemble the case. Match the key shown in your own vehicle’s manual before using the steps.

Confirm What Is Inside Your Key

• The new battery has the correct full code.

• It sits securely in the holder.
• No packaging or insulating tab remains in place.

If possible, try another fresh cell of the same specification. Continued failure after a correct replacement calls for diagnosis of the key or vehicle, not repeated prying at the case.

Replacing a coin cell is separate from pairing a new key. Avoid universal “reset” instructions that do not identify the relevant Sorento generation and key type.
